Health and safety

The health and safety of our workers, customers, and community is a top priority at Arch. We strive to reach environmental and safety performance standards beyond those required by law or regulation.

As a member of the American Chemistry Council, Arch is committed to the principles of Responsible Care® and we apply that commitment globally. Further, through our "Zero Accidents" objective, we are taking proactive steps at each of our facilities to limit hazards for our employees, contractors and the environment.
We closely monitor our workplaces to determine if equipment, machinery and facilities meet specified safety standards. In addition, we ensure that safety and health hazards are adequately addressed through appropriate work practices and very strict procedures.
We also closely monitor employees for potential occupational illnesses and act to eliminate or control employee exposure to health hazards.

In addition, we are working increasingly hard to:

• Provide our employees with proper tools and training

• Provide and enforce the use of appropriate personal protective equipment by all employees

• Provide immediate and appropriate medical attention to employees where needed

• Prevent any employee from bypassing an established safety practice or procedure

• Not ask or allow any employee to disable, tamper with or defeat any safety device on equipment or machinery.
